Hakutsuru photoThis Hakutsuru Museum of Art opened to the public in 1934 in order to exhibit artifacts collected by Jihei Kanoh, the 7th head of Hakutsuru Brewery, making it one of the earliest privately owned museums. The main portion of the collection is consists of ancient Chinese artifacts, but there are also other exhibits such as ancient Japanese scrolls, writings, paintings and 'magatama' jewels. In October 1995 a new annex was opened to exhibit carpets from Near East area that were collected by Hideo Kanoh, the 10th head of the brewery.
