Shanghai and Yangtze Trade Promotion Project |
| The Shanghai and Yangtze Basin economic
bloc is a driving force of remarkable economic growth in
China. The City of Kobe is now facilitating the Shanghai
and Yangtze Trade Promotion Project to revitalize the local
economy through promoting trade and communication between
China’s great economic bloc and Kobe. |
This interregional communication is the
first of its kind between China and Japan. This project is designed
to promote trade and communication beneficial for both Chinese
and Japanese enterprises. Current activities include promoting
the establishment of business between Japan and China, supporting
local enterprises involved in business between Japan and China,
providing information, seminars and lectures, setting up showcase
business meetings for Chinese imports, and offering opportunities
for business matching. |

| At the same time, the formation of
a “New China Town,” where enterprises from Japan
and abroad are assembled, is being facilitated to develop
business between Japan and China on Port Island 2nd Stage. About 50 enterprises involved in business between Japan and China
have already located to Kobe. In April 2005, the New China Town Support
Center was established to promote the establishment of Chinese business
in Kobe and to support exchange students planning business activities in
Kobe. |
